A comfortable cableway takes you to the Alpe Foppa 1530m/s where you will find a big restaurant, the Church Santa Maria degli Angeli designed by the architect Mario Botta as well as the starting points for panoramic hiking. Monte Brè (993 m s/m); 6979 Bré sopra Lugano Appreciate the splendor of Monte Rosa, the Bernese and Vallese Alps as seen from the top of Switzerland's sunniest mountain.The funicular, which has been restored to the original 1912 design, leaves every 30 minutes from 09.15 to 12.05, and from 13.45 to 18.35 (From June 15th to September 30th also through lunchtime). Various restaurants and panoramic terraces await you at the top (933m). With only a short walk you can explore a charming village that has conserved its traditional old "Ticinese" character and style. The village is enriched by its refined "Art trail", by the frescoes of Birò and Luigi Taddei, the Pasquale Gilardi sculptures and the Wilhelm Schmid Museum. Monte Lema (1624 m s/m); 6986 Miglieglia With an altitude of 1624 meters, it is the most grandiose and panoramic peak of the Swiss-Italian corner of Switzerland. The view from its green terrace encompasses 360 degrees over the valleys of southern Tessin and the Lake of Lugano, as well as the valleys of Luino and the Lake Maggiore. The impressive scenery stretches from the Grisonese and Bernese Alps to the mountain peaks in Canton Wallis and the panorama extends even to the plains of Lombardy and the city of Milan in Italy. Monte Generoso (1704 m s/m); 6825 Capolago Monte Generoso is the mountain with the finest panorama in Canton Ticino. Serpiano (650 m s/m); Hotel Serpiano, 6867 Serpiano Mount S. Giorgio rises for a height of 1.097 m. from the shore of the lake in front of the city of Lugano. An enchanting view from the peak surprises visitors and a network of paths easily joins the various towns in the regions. The vegetation of the mountain is distinguished by a typical coppice forest that includes rare plants and magnificent chestnut tress which are thousands of years old with completely hollow trunks. The region is most noted for its geological treasures and the fossils conserved within; above of all fish, invertebrates and sea reptiles of rare if not unique species from mid Triassic times, about 230 million years ago. Many of these can be admired at the Meride Fossil Museum. On June 2nd 2003 Mount S. Giorgio was included in UNESCO?s "World Patrimony of Humanity".
